A&M Trend Report 2025
Read time: 5 minutes
So far in 2025, we’ve seen the reclamation of the ‘soft-girl’ aesthetic, red has had its main character moment (with butter yellow following closely behind), and the 90’s are back and more low-waisted than ever. Labubu’s and blind boxes have taken TikTok by storm, there’s a fish motif on everything, and Justin Bieber came back onto the music scene with top hit ‘DASIES’.
With trends showing no signs of slowing down this year, we couldn’t help but ask: what’s next for 2025? And, after some careful consideration, we’ve compiled this list of emerging styles we think are about to blow up in the second half of the year.
01. Faux Freckle Tattoos
Over the last few years, fine line tattoos have taken centre stage in the tattoo industry, but we think we’ve discovered the next tattooing trend.
Faux freckle tattoos mimic the natural imperfections of your skin and are ideal for people who aren’t sure about committing to a larger design, but still want a taste of the action. These dainty tattoos - often in heart, star or moon shapes - are so discreet they’re almost hidden, making them perfect for people in more conservative careers, or just those who prefer more subtle designs.
And, they’re the perfect tattoos to get in brown ink - another tattoo trend we see becoming popular in the near future. Like brown mascara or brown eyeliner, brown tattoo ink creates less contrast against the skin, so appears softer and more natural. We’ve seen colourful inks surge in popularity in the past - think of the red tattoos of yesteryear - and we believe, following the popularity of brown shades in clothing and homewear, brown ink tattoos are the next ones to take the spotlight.
We’re now offering five Sunkiss Tattoo™ designs in our stores - our take on the faux freckle tattoo - and we can’t wait for you to get yours!
02. Hidden Helix Piercings
In the first half of this year, the stacked lobe piercing (where your lobe is pierced again directly above or just offset from your first lobe piercing) has been having its moment. But we’ve got our eyes on the next coolest piercing placement…
The hidden helix is unexpected, super expressive, and has some of the coolest piercing jewellery you can find. Pierced within the fold of your upper ear, the hidden helix is all about creating an illusion - the post of the piercing jewellery is generally hidden from view (hence the name), with delicate chains and gemstones dropping decoratively, and intriguingly, from the disguised piercing. Taking up a similar position to a flat piercing, a hidden helix piercing can bring height and balance to an ear stack.
A unique blend of self-expression and elegance, we think the hidden helix is the next piercing placement to steal hearts.
03. Maximalism
We had fun with the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic, but for some of us, it just didn’t feel sustainable. Permanently dewy-skin, perfectly slicked buns and coordinating 50 shades of beige can get a little bit boring after a while - unless it’s a style that truly resonates with you.
For people who gravitate towards maximalist colour and pattern, 2025 has been good to us. We’ve seen the return of colour, playfulness (think bows and frills), pattern (think gingham and polka dots), and layering. And now the next era is here: the era of maximalist, customisable jewellery.
The trend’s hook? Cute and collectible charms that can be attached, detached and rearranged across a range of compatible jewellery, including chunky chain bracelets and necklaces, so that you can keep your stack fresh and personal. This trend is where maximalism meets individualism. People are encouraged to pick and style motifs they genuinely love and connect with - just in a ‘the more the merrier’ kind of way. In theory, this means this jewellery trend should stick around for a while, since the resulting jewels are truly meaningful to the wearer.
And we see this tendency towards maximalism and personalisation tipping into other accessories. Next on the rise, bag charms, phone charms, shoes charms - even lip balm charms. If you can hang a quirky, meaningful little medallion on it, it’s going to be charmed by the end of the year.
04. Milestones, or should we say ‘ministones’?
As a general rule, Millennials and the younger generation have become more interested in celebrating their own personal wins - developments in personal growth, and big purchases they’ve worked towards - than classic measures of adulthood and success that can feel forced and outdated. And along with these new milestones, come new ways of treating themselves for the effort.
Which is where milestone gifts come in. Brands are being challenged to meet consumers in the middle - offering treats or services that are more special than your average payday splurge, but won’t break the bank for the rest of the season. A milestone gift is something symbolic and meaningful to the recipient, which acts as a reminder of how far they’ve come and all they’ve achieved.
First pet? Moved across the world? Hit a marathon PB? In the modern world, these are all reasons to celebrate and treat yourself, and our favourite way might be with Milestone Jewellery. Precious, sentimental jewellery can be bought by anyone, at any time, for anything (or simply gifted to yourself) and it’s a trend we expect to see a lot more of towards the end of 2025.
Other notable mentions for the trend cycle include: baby blue & brown colour combinations, the ultra skinny scarf, and chunky boots - in all their indie revival glory. Which trend are you the most excited for this 2025 autumn/winter season?
